Canowindra Balloon Festival
Place: Canowindra
Where: Central West NSW
The Canowindra Balloon Festival is an event held around April each year, in the Central West town on Canowrindra, about 45 minutes drive from Orange.
That time of year is beautiful, as the trees turn rusty brown – but even that burst of colour can’t compare to the colour of the balloons as they arrive at dawn and light up.
It’s incredibly cold and still the morning we are there, which made it even more beautiful to watch, as the balloons slowly float up into the sky and away.
This was across the ANZAC Day weekend – spending some time on the wines in Orange, and stopping off at the impressive Portland Foundations on the way home to see the painted silos.
