- Bluey’s Beach Where: Forster, NSW After a busy couple of weeks at work, I headed up the coast to one of my favourite places for a quick getaway – Blueys Beach, just south of Forster. At night, I took in the sunset over the nearby lake and even got the drone up for a while. Unfortunately in my haste I reformatted the memory card so I have nothing to share! Fortunately, my weather app told me it would be good for sunrise and sunset and it well and truly delivered!
- Adelaide and Barossa Where: South Australia A great loooong weekend in Adelaide recently. We flew down on the morning of Australia Day, enjoying a fantastic lunch at Star Of Greece at Port Willunga. It’s been a long time since I’ve been to the southern part of Adelaide – they even have the freeway built in both directions now! It used to change direction at lunchtime! Port Willunga was beautiful – the kind of water you could expect to find in Fiji. Crystal clear and azure. Good so you can easily spot the sharks I guess. We then spent some time at […]
- Tasmania 2013 Where: Tasmania In 2013 we traveled to the Apple Isle – Tasmania. Somewhat surprising was walking through the airport at Hobart and having walk in underneath the sign saying “International Visitors”. They really do treat mainlanders like foreigners! We started off with a few days in Hobart, staying in Salamanca and visiting the famous markets in the morning. Following that, we headed out to Bruny Island (famous for its cheese and wine) where the weather was dark and storm. Actually, it was perfect weather for a trip like this, making the coastline look impressive and wild. On Bruny […]
- Africa Where: South Africa and Mozambique In 2010, we got hitched and celebrated our honeymoon in South Africa. We flew into Capetown via Johannesburg, staying at a grand hotel on the waterfront where seals were frolicking outside the window. Capetown is quite a cosmopolitan city and in some ways very similar to Sydney (at least the tourist areas around the Harbour appeared similar to Darling Harbour and the like – go outside of town and it’s very different though). We took the cable car up Table Mountain while we were there, taking in the panorama from the top of the […]
- Italy and Dubai You don’t turn 40 every day, so it’s a chance to really celebrate. In August 2017, we took the holiday of a lifetime to Italy via a quick stopover in Dubai. We took in all the sights including Rome, Venice, the Amalfi Coast and Tuscany. Talk about being spoilt! Celebrating your 40th birthday watching the sun come up over Florence, the great Renaissance city. Then lots and lots of good food and wine!
