- Mount Kosciuszko Where: Snowy Mountains Climb Mount Kosciuszko, they said. It will be beautiful, they said. We may have just chosen the wrong day. Easter Sunday seemed like a great day to climb Australia’s highest peak. Something about Jesus and a mountain, or something? We had driven in from Albury in the morning, seeing some spectacular countryside along the NSW and Victorian border, where the rivers wind through the countryside. Upon arriving at Thredbo, the clouds started closing in. After forking out a ridiculous $70 for the chairlift to Thredbo Tops, we started the 6.6km walk to the top of […]
- Craig’s Hut Where: Victoria Craig’s Hut is one of those places I’ve always wanted to visit. On Good Friday 2017, we visited this special place and even camped there overnight. Perched high atop a ridge in the Victorian high country, Craig’s Hut is an iconic photographic location. We even have a framed Ken Duncan Panograph of this place. Originally built for the movie The Man From Snowy River, the hut has been rebuilt after being destroyed by bush fires. We stopped off in Mansfield for lunch before starting the drive towards the Hut. The countryside is beautiful, close to Mount […]
- Bluey’s Beach Where: Forster, NSW After a busy couple of weeks at work, I headed up the coast to one of my favourite places for a quick getaway – Blueys Beach, just south of Forster. At night, I took in the sunset over the nearby lake and even got the drone up for a while. Unfortunately in my haste I reformatted the memory card so I have nothing to share! Fortunately, my weather app told me it would be good for sunrise and sunset and it well and truly delivered!
- Adelaide and Barossa Where: South Australia A great loooong weekend in Adelaide recently. We flew down on the morning of Australia Day, enjoying a fantastic lunch at Star Of Greece at Port Willunga. It’s been a long time since I’ve been to the southern part of Adelaide – they even have the freeway built in both directions now! It used to change direction at lunchtime! Port Willunga was beautiful – the kind of water you could expect to find in Fiji. Crystal clear and azure. Good so you can easily spot the sharks I guess. We then spent some time at […]
- Royal National Park Where: Sydney One of the advantages of living where we do – our close proximity to the Royal National Park. We went for an early morning walk around Jibbon Head at Bundeena. You see ancient Aboriginal rock carvings, stunning sandstone cliffs and beautiful beaches. These are admittedly iPhone photos but you get the idea.
- Tasmania 2013 Where: Tasmania In 2013 we traveled to the Apple Isle – Tasmania. Somewhat surprising was walking through the airport at Hobart and having walk in underneath the sign saying “International Visitors”. They really do treat mainlanders like foreigners! We started off with a few days in Hobart, staying in Salamanca and visiting the famous markets in the morning. Following that, we headed out to Bruny Island (famous for its cheese and wine) where the weather was dark and storm. Actually, it was perfect weather for a trip like this, making the coastline look impressive and wild. On Bruny […]
- A quick trip out to Mudgee for work, which became a day longer than expected, thanks to snow falling across much of the Central West.
