Glenayr Farm Mudgee
Place: Mudgee
Where: Regional NSW
If you follow any big NSW or Aussie tourism page online, you’ve probably seen this place before. Or more precisely, you may have seen their hot tub before.
The wood-fired hot tub is the cream on the top of a stay at the beautiful Glenayr Farm near Mudgee.
The farm is situated about 20-30 minutes out of town, on rolling countryside teaming with kangaroos, cows and even the odd wombat.
There are two types of accomodation here – the glamping tents (of which there are four and can be booked out as a group) or one of two villas. We stayed in Villa Merlot which looks out across the paddocks to a little stream and scrub that comes alive with kangaroos as the sun comes up or goes down.
It is isolated. Or as they say, off the grid. There’s limited power (it’s all solar) and water is sometimes scarce. Although during our time there it rained pretty constantly, making it perfect weather to sit back, relax and take it all in.
And then there’s the hot tub. Sure, it was a little bit fiddly to get it to the right temperature – and there was a moment when there was so much smoke coming out of the flue the Vatican may have wondered if a new Pope had been elected.
But to sit back and soak it all in, it’s well and truly worth it.
