Place: Circular Quay
Where: Sydney
Australia Day is marked on 26 January each year. The attitudes towards the day seem to be changing – considering it marks the anniversary of the First Fleet colonising Australia after more than 40,000 years of Aboriginal custodianship.
Despite the debate over the date, each year Sydney throws on a big concert and fireworks display that lights up the sky.
This year I went into the city for the first time to see the display – from up the top of the Overseas Passenger Terminal, looking straight across to the Opera House.
The sky came alive – as did the water, with lots of entertaining displays.
